Who We Are

Shadow Companion is an AI-guided reflection service operated by True Path Consulting Australia (ABN 76 442 507 308), trading as Shadow Companion, Book of Light, and Book of Shadows.

Information We Collect

When you use Shadow Companion, we may collect the following information:

• Account and authentication information, including your email address and, when you use Google Sign-In, your name, Google account identifier, and profile picture
• Content you choose to provide or save, including AI chat messages, journals, dreams, Journey reflections, saved reflections, quiz and assessment results, and support messages
• AI-generated insights and derived information created from your content, including Psychological Landscape themes, Protective Archetypes, Developmental Archetypes, Pattern Reports, Weekly Integrations, Daily Koans, and Map of Consciousness history
• Subscription information, such as your access status, 24-hour Taster or Google Play Free Trial dates, billing period, product identifier, and payment-provider transaction or purchase identifiers. We do not receive or store full card numbers
• Usage and personalisation data, such as feature activity, message counts, preferences, and interactions used to provide and improve the service
• Technical and analytics data, such as IP address, device, browser, referring page, and app or website activity
• Communication preferences and delivery information when you opt in to emails such as Daily Koans, Weekly Integrations, or Pattern Reports

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and personalise your AI-guided reflection experience
• Generate AI-guided responses, reflections, reports, archetype insights, and other AI-generated insights based on the content you provide
• Authenticate your account through Google Sign-In or Email Sign-In and enable access across devices
• Manage your member login and subscription status
• Verify and administer Android purchases through Google Play Billing and web purchases through Stripe where web subscriptions are offered
• Improve the quality and relevance of Shadow Companion's responses
• Communicate service updates and account-related notifications
• Monitor service performance, understand feature use, prevent abuse, and maintain security

AI Processing

Shadow Companion uses artificial intelligence to provide its core features. The text you submit and relevant saved context may be sent to our AI provider to generate responses and AI-generated insights. Depending on the feature, this context may include your chats, journals, dreams, Journey reflections, assessments, saved reflections, themes, and previous reports. Please avoid submitting information you do not want processed for this purpose.

Third-Party Services

Shadow Companion integrates with the following third-party services:

• Google — for Google Sign-In, Google Play Billing, subscription management, and Android purchase verification
• Supabase — for Google and email authentication
• Stripe — for secure payment processing and subscription management where web subscriptions are offered
• OpenAI — for AI-powered reflection and conversation generation
• Netlify and its database infrastructure — for hosting, server-side functions, and secure application data storage
• TikTok — for website and app-webview analytics and advertising measurement through the TikTok Pixel
• Resend — for delivering service and opt-in reflection emails
• Google Fonts and jsDelivr — for delivering fonts and client-side application libraries

Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their policies for details on how they handle your data.

Data Storage and Security

Your account content and derived insights are stored with access controls so they can remain available across sessions and devices and support continuity and personalisation. Payment credentials are handled by Google Play or Stripe, depending on where you subscribe, and are not stored on our servers. We retain information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and maintain security.

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or ask questions about how it is handled. You may also change email preferences from the relevant settings or unsubscribe link.

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your Shadow Companion account and associated application data from Settings/Profile → Delete Account, or follow the instructions on our account deletion page. Deleting your Shadow Companion account does not automatically cancel a Google Play Subscription; that subscription must be cancelled in Google Play. Payment providers may retain transaction records under their own legal obligations.

Cookies and Local Storage

Shadow Companion uses essential browser storage and similar technologies to maintain authentication, security, app state, preferences, taster status, and feature continuity. The TikTok Pixel may use cookies or similar identifiers for analytics and advertising measurement. Google, Supabase, and other service providers may also set or access storage required to provide their services. Browser settings can limit cookies, but disabling essential storage may prevent parts of Shadow Companion from working correctly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of Shadow Companion after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
